Well it has been quite an eventful passage. We left Brigham City for Moab Utah. Along the way we stopped for some groceries. Little did I know what that stop had in store for me. I made some Pico de Gallo which is a salsa made from some fresh veggies and jalapenos etc. I ate it Tuesday nite and we headed south. The trip was interesting as we were at 6500' and ran in to snow flurries. Eventually we found ourselves down in the valley with warmer temps. While driving I had some stomach concerns as we headed to Moab for a one night stay and then to push further south. Without going into details, we were sidelined for three days while it ran thru my system. I just returned from the local ER to have some fluids administered. Now I feel better but this has thrown a monkey wrench into our schedule. The surrounding countryside is just magnificent. The red hills and deep valleys are really awesome to view. Our one night stay in Moab has turned into a 4 day stay. This is a big weekend here in Moab as they host a vintage car parade and cars from all over the country come to drive up and down the main drag. Tomorrow we are back on the road to Farmington, N.M. for one night and then on to Santa Fe. Whoopee.
Day 24 05/25/18 Our last day in Great Falls and we are compelled to see where the name came from. Back in the car and out to the middle of nowhere to see one of the friggin falls. Seems the Louis and Clark expedition found this falls. However in the early 1900's the city fathers thought it would be a great idea to build a dam and make electricity. Here is a pic of their efforts. From here we went to the First Peoples Buffalo jump. This remarkable geologic area has been used for thousands of years by local tribes to drive buffalo up and over the hills to kill them for food and their hides. One of the interesting facts we learned was that the natives for thousands of years were barefoot. The horse was not introduced to North America until the 1700's. It was said that native tribes from all over the area came to use the buffalo jump. Supposedly there is 18' of buffalo debris still buried beneath the hill. Not much...
