Had a bit of a fright as I was not able to find my blog to add to it. However, now back in business. This is our third day in Santa Fe and tomorrow we head out to Taos, NM. A lot of history here but I am getting somewhat jaded and bored. Went back to The Shed in the plaza and had another amazing meal. Walked around the plaza and bought some tourist priced stuff. Sue had found an amazing living history location that was only 5 miles from our campground. We headed over there and lo and behold, they don't open for another month. But I digress. First thing in the morning we headed over to the T-mobile store and and hour and a half later, we had replaced our ancient "dumb" phones with new smart ones. Also replaced my old tablet with a new one. A rather costly visit but these phones should stand us in good stead for awhile. We were supposed to have the trailer washed and waxed this afternoon, but the guy never showed. Oh well. On the way back to the camper, we stopped off at Albertson's and stocked up. Grilled some pork chops and corn on the cob for dinner. Going to help with the dishes and then start to get ready for travel tomorrow.
Day 24 05/25/18 Our last day in Great Falls and we are compelled to see where the name came from. Back in the car and out to the middle of nowhere to see one of the friggin falls. Seems the Louis and Clark expedition found this falls. However in the early 1900's the city fathers thought it would be a great idea to build a dam and make electricity. Here is a pic of their efforts. From here we went to the First Peoples Buffalo jump. This remarkable geologic area has been used for thousands of years by local tribes to drive buffalo up and over the hills to kill them for food and their hides. One of the interesting facts we learned was that the natives for thousands of years were barefoot. The horse was not introduced to North America until the 1700's. It was said that native tribes from all over the area came to use the buffalo jump. Supposedly there is 18' of buffalo debris still buried beneath the hill. Not much...
So glad you found it!! Can we text you now that you have new phones?
