Day 23  5/24/18

It has been a busy day.  I forgot to mention that our front tongue jack quit working two days ago.  I do have a backup manual handle which is a son of a gun to work with.  About 200 turns to lift off the ball and another 200 turns to lower the front so the floor is level.  I contacted Lance who manufactured our trailer and they informed me that I had to contact Lippert who made the jack for a warranty replacement.  In the mean time, we are in the middle of nowhere trying to get service.  To make a long story short we contacted a Lippert dealer at our next stop in two days.  They of course did not have a replacement but could order one from Seattle.  I asked them to order it and I recontacted Lippert and they said they would pay for parts and labor.  Hurray!!  I did not mention that when we were still in Canada the local dealer would be happy to sell and install one for about $400.  No Thanks!!  We pulled in today to Great Falls, MT where the dealer had ordered a jack, contacted Lippert and got the go ahead to replace it including the labor.  Whew..  That done we found the campground and I set the trailer up for Sue and Gracie.  Now to solve another problem.  I have a LG pad from T-Mobile.  I have been getting error messages lately that I am running out of memory.  Me or the tablet?  Seems the tablet only about a year old has limited Rom memory.  However for a mere $240 I could get the latest version with twice the memory.  Didn't really have a choice so went to the local T-Mobile store in Great Falls, and spent about 2 hours while they configured my new tablet and transferred all of my data.  Now it is 5:30 and I still need to market.  Off to a very nice market and then back to the trailer.  Uh Oh!!  Passed a semi-automatic car wash.  Now we have been traveling about one month in rain, mud, dust, etc. and the car looks like a beater from East L.A.  So a detour to the car wash where I am handed a wet rag.  What is this for?  Was my question.  Well, that is so you can dust the inside and then you can vacuum your car, by yourself.  Only $10.  Well I couldn't stand driving the heap as it was so did the car wash thing, and Lo and Behold, I can see out the windshield again.  All the gas stations for the last month, and there have been many, are all self service.  Now I never took windshield cleaning in high school so I am not much of an expert.  Our windshield had been a graveyard for thousands of bugs.  Finally, gone.  Life is good.

So, if you have read all of the above, you are all up to date.  We have a new LG tablet, a new tongue jack, clean windows, it doesn't get much better that this.  Unfortunately we are back to having internet and we have caught up with the clown in the White House.  When oh when will this nightmare end?

Day 24  05/25/18 Our last day in Great Falls and we are compelled to see where the name came from.  Back in the car and out to the middle of nowhere to see one of the friggin falls.  Seems the Louis and Clark expedition found this falls.  However in the early 1900's the city fathers thought it would be a great idea to build a dam and make electricity.  Here is a pic of their efforts. From here we went to the First Peoples Buffalo jump.  This remarkable geologic area has been used for thousands of years by local tribes to drive buffalo up and over the hills to kill them for food and their hides.  One of the interesting facts we learned was that the natives for thousands of years were barefoot.  The horse was not introduced to North America until the 1700's.  It was said that native tribes from all over the area came to use the buffalo jump.  Supposedly there is 18' of buffalo debris still buried beneath the hill.  Not much...
Day 26  05/27/18 We arrived in Billings, MT at about 2 P.M.  An uneventful trip through vast stretches of territory.  A number of ranches dotting the country side.  I am still battling a cold, but with the help of Cold-Eze, it has shortened the coughing spells.  Still a little weak, so I decided a nap made a lot of sense.  Took, same.  We find ourselves in a KOA which I am not a fan of, but they had the highest ratings in the area.  They are usually set up as a destination location for families with children.  Place looks like a miniature Disneyland.  Swimming pool, Adventure miniature golf course, hot tub, jungle jim, etc.  You get the picture.  All with a bunch of screaming kids.  Ugh.  I have to reflect on W.C. Fields line of "Get away from me kid. you bother me."
Day 39 6/8/18 What a night we had.  Early evening the wind started to pick up.  Got windier and windier.  The saplings that were planted by our trailer were about 8' tall.   They were bending in the middle and the branches were parallel to the ground.  The trailer was feeling every blast.  I became so concerned that I pulled in the slide out dinette for about 45 minutes until the wind subsided.  Then came something totally unexpected.  I was watching out one of the windows and the horizon lit up with lightning flashes.  I have never experienced what we saw for the next two hours.  The lighting flashes occurred simultaneously three and four and sometimes five flashes at the same time.  This went on for a two hours.  Thankfully they were far enough away that we couldn't hear the thunder which must have been deafening.  I can't imagine living in a place where that occurs.  Amazing. Today was a travel day to Dou...
